These are our top vantage points and views in Kelowna and West Kelowna.
By far, the most popular and best known viewpoint in Kelowna is located on Knox Mountain in North Kelowna. If you drive north on Ellis Street, you will arrive at Knox Mountain Drive which takes you to two vantage points in Knox Mountain Park, the highest of which is at the summit, some 300 metres above Okanagan Lake. From either point on the mountain, you will experience beautiful views of Kelowna, the downtown area and Okanagan Lake.
Located off of Westside Road above Traders Cove, Blue Grouse Road is a steep, dirt road that will take you to one of the best views in the Okanagan Valley. Depending on the day that you visit, you may even be able to see paragliders taking off from their designated launching point! The road isn’t always in the best condition, so be sure to take a 4x4 vehicle or hike to the top.
The eastern slopes of Mount Boucherie in West Kelowna offer up excellent views of vineyards, the glittering lake and Kelowna’s Mission community. These views are easily experienced off of Boucherie Road, but some of the best views are found at wineries like Quail’s Gate and Mission Hill. If you climb Mount Boucherie, you can also take in sweeping views of West Kelowna, including the icon tower of Mission Hill Estate Winery.
Kettle Valley is Kelowna’s first master planned community with picturesque parks, stunning streetscapes and beautiful homes setting the stage for the excellent views. Some of the parks, paths and trails offer views of the city and lake below, and on a clear day you can see Peachland in the distance. Because the views at Kettle Valley are so accessible, you can easily head up in the evening and see the city lights twinkling below.
Located on Highway 33, east of Rutland, Black Mountain is not just a geographical feature - it’s also home to one of Kelowna’s most popular up-and-coming communities. The views over Black Mountain Golf Course are particularly wonderful in the autumn.
One of the absolute best places to take in views of Kelowna and Okanagan Lake is at Dilworth Mountain Park. This viewpoint is perfectly positioned to offer up views of downtown Kelowna to the west and the heart of the city to the south. You can also see the beautifully manicured Kelowna Golf and Country Club below.
Serenity and plenty of nature await at Okanagan Mountain Park. Well-known as the site of the 2003 wildfire which devastated the area and consumed dozens of homes, Okanagan Mountain Park is now in a stage of recovery with abundant wildlife in the area and plenty of views that overlook Okanagan Lake and the blackened trees.
